The company I work for has been sponsoring a build with Habitat for Humanity. Other than the weeks that I was stuck in bed sick with what eventually turned into pneumonia I have spent my Saturdays over the past three months building a house. We finished the house last weekend and I was flooded with emotion. I am soproud that one day when m kids are older I can show them the pictures of their Mom making a small difference in the world. I love this song and Believe every word of it.
Change- Carrie Underwood
What’cha gonna do with the thirty six cents
Sticky with coke on your floorboard
When a woman on the street is huddled in the cold
On a sidewalk bench trying to keep warm
Do you call her over hand her the change
Ask her a story ask her her name
Or do you tell yourself
You’re just a fool
Just a fool
To believe you can change the world
You’re just a fool
Just a fool
To believe you can change the world
What’cha gonna do when you’re watching t.v.
And an ad comes on
Yeah you know the kind
Flashin’ up pictures of a child in need
For a dime a day you can save a life
Do you call the number reach out a hand
Or do you change the channel call it a scam
Or do you tell yourself
You’re just a fool
Just a fool
To believe you can change the world
Don’t listen to them when they say
You’re just a fool
Just a fool
To believe you can change the world
Oh the smallest thing can make all the difference
Love is alive
Don’t listen to ‘em when they say
You’re just a fool
Just a fool
To believe you can change the world
And the world’s so big it can break your heart
And you just wanna help
Not sure where to start
So you close your eyes
And send up a prayer into the dark
You’re just a fool
Just a fool
To believe you can change the world
Don’t listen to them when they say
You’re just a fool
Just a fool
To believe you can change the world
Oh the smallest thing can all the difference
Love is alive

Standing for My Marriage

I find myself always reading anything I think will teach me about life or inspire me and this truly inspired me.
I am standing for the healing of my marriage!
I won’t give up, give in, give out, or give over till that healing takes place.
I made a vow; I said the words; I gave the pledge; I gave a ring; I took a ring; I gave myself; I trusted God; and said the words and meant the words…in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in good times and in bad; so I’m standing now, and won’t sit down, let down, slow down, calm down, fall down, look down, or be down till the breakdown is torn down!
I refuse to put my eyes on outward circumstances; or listen to prophets of doom, or buy into what’s trendy, worldly, popular, convenient, easy, quick, thrifty, or advantageous.
Nor will I settle for a cheap imitation of God’s real thing. Nor will I seek to lower God’s standard, twist God’s will, rewrite God’s Word, violate God’s covenant, or accept what God hates, namely divorce.
In a world of filth, I will stay pure.
Surrounded by lies, I will speak the truth.
Where hopelessness abounds, I will hope in God.
Where revenge is easier, I will bless instead of curse, and when the odds are stacked against me, I’ll trust in God’s faithfulness.
I’m a stander, and I won’t acquiesce, compromise, quarrel, or quit.
I have made the choice, set my face, entered the race, believed the Word, and trusted God for all the outcome.
I will allow neither the reaction of my spouse, nor the urging of my friends, nor the advice of my loved ones, nor the economic hardship, nor the prompting of the devil to make me let up, slow up, blow up, or give up till my marriage is healed up.
Amen.

Yes, I’ve been absent for a while. Life comes around and of course the first thing neglected is my blog…. and after that the next in line is myself. I’ve decided that instead of keeping things bottled up. I’m going to start venting my frustrations through writing AND posting what I’m irritated about. Feel free to comment or not. I’m really not looking for who is right or wrong. I’m just trying to get things off of my chest and have a healthier approach to my life. I know that “you feel better when you talk about it” so I am.
Happy Valentine’s Day

A very low key weekend for sure. Went to Austin to see the Hubby. Had some seafood. (Of course, what else would I eat?) Came home to my sweet and beautiful children. Nothing fancy.
The real reason for this post…..
I have the sweetest son ever. I came home to a dozen roses in a vase from Blake. This is not even the sweetest thing. He also bought Abigail roses! He had a little vase with three roses in it for her! I just love him and his sweet self!

I knew this day would come. When Blake was little he learned how to do this and never stopped. Her day has come and I love it! This is such a wonderful age for babies. I love feeding her baby food and helping her sit up. She gets excited about everything and we are really loving it. I know that these precious days with her are limited so I am savoring every minute that I have before she starts crawling, walking and becomes a Daddy’s girl that doesn’t want her Mommy to feed her anymore.
This Mom doesn’t raise a quitter.

My son wanted to join the school choir. I of course let him. He has to get up early on Tuesdays and Thursdays and ride his bike to school for practice. He finally had his first concert. When we got there and watched all the children file in so nervous but excited we noticed there were only a handful of boys. After being the proud parent and watching my son sing his heart out we decided to celebrate with a special dinner. We went to a local restaurant. We being us and the grandparents. At dinner I asked Blake where the other boys were? He told me that they had quit the choir. I didn’t press the issue. Well I knew the day was coming. Blake asked me if he could quit the choir. I said no of course. I told him he never has sign up for choir again but that when he signed up for it he made a commitment and he was going to stick to it. Does this make me a bad parent? Should your force your child to do something that they don’t want to? I never would have made him do it in the first place so why now? Well I decided that he was going to finish out his commitment to the choir and that is that.
Our First Visit to Santa

We went expecting to stand in line for hours and listen to screaming children all while waiting to have Abigail’s picture taken with Santa. The Lord answered our prayers! We got there and were the first people in line for the afternoon session with Santa. We waited twenty minutes for him to get there. All in all we were in and out in 30 minutes! Let’s just hope and pray that next year goes as smoothly!

We didn’t do much. Blake went to his Grandmother’s house and was Doc Hoilday with a friend and Abigail was my little flower. Hubby said Anne Geddes doesn’t have anything compared to his baby girl!

We have had the best three days ever. She is such an angel. Sleeps all the time and has to be woke up to eat. Justin took a week off of work to stay home with us and has been the best father and husband. He’s changed more diapers than I have!
